WISDOM TOOTH TREATMENT
At Neosmile Dental Hospital, wisdom teeth care and management are provided in a way that guarantees client relaxation and positive oral health results. Wisdom teeth – also referred to as third molars – are the final set of teeth to appear and develop within the mouth. These particular teeth usually grow between 18-25 years. For some people, their wisdom teeth come through normally, but for others, there is not enough space in their mouths, so they have impacted wisdom teeth, which may cause pain, infections, and other dental issues.
Neosmile Dental Hospital provides a comprehensive approach to wisdom tooth management:
Initial Assessment
For this reason, Neo Smile Dental Hospital begins with a comprehensive examination of the patient’s oral health by employing x-rays or scans of the mouth, which helps assess how these affect other teeth, growth trends as well as positioning of the wisdom tooth.
Extraction Process
In case this is an impacted wisdom tooth, then gum tissue incision has to be made by a dentist, plus removing bone covering the tooth, or it might involve sectioning the tooth so as little bone material needs removing.
Customized Treatment Plan
Following the initial assessment, a tailor-made treatment plan is created. If the third molars are in a good state of health and properly aligned, removal might not be necessary. However, those teeth that cause pain, may require removal.
Postoperative Care
After an extraction procedure, patients receive detailed directions regarding management of pain, maintenance of oral hygiene and dietary modifications that can promote proper healing. Keep in touch with the dentist.
Sedation and Anesthesia
The hospital provides different types of sedation and anesthesia options to assist patients during extraction procedures. This will depend on how difficult the procedure is going to be for the patient when they’re awake.
Follow Up
Neosmile Dental Hospital schedules follow-up visits to monitor recovery progress and address issues that may arise post-extraction. Every 6 months follow up visits are necessary.
AFTERCARE TIPS
Proper care is essential for a smooth and speedy recovery after wisdom tooth removal.
Pain relief :
Please use painkillers given by your dentist or oral surgeon. Over-the-counter pain relievers may also be helpful but always follow the advice of your healthcare professional.
Rest :
Rest and avoid exercise during the first day or two to minimize bleeding and promote healing.
Smoking/Alcoholism :
Avoid smoking & taking alcohol at least forty-eight hours following the surgical procedure, as this could slow down the healing process.
Oral hygiene :
Keep mouth clean so as not to get infections post-surgery. In some cases, you might be required to rinse with salt water or antiseptic mouthwash after twenty-four hours since extraction was done. You can brush all other teeth gently, but avoid brushing directly at the extraction site within two days.
Cold Compress :
For the first 24 to 48 hours, put an ice pack on the outside of your cheek where you had the tooth removed to reduce swelling. Use it for only about 15 to 20 minutes at a time.
Elevation :
Use pillows to keep your head elevated when lying down in order to reduce swelling and discomfort.
Post-operative care :
Keep all the appointments after surgery with your dentist or oral surgeon on time so as to have proper healing.
Food and drink :
Stick to soft foods or liquids for up to five days after extraction has been done; avoid drinking hot, eating spicy foods and crispy foods as well as refraining from sipping through straws since these would dislodge blood clots present in extraction sites leading to a dry socket condition which is painful.
