Dental dentures are an artifice, which is built to replace missing teeth by reliance on the supporting tissues of the oral cavity. Typical dentures are removable, but several types of denture designs depend on bonding to teeth or dental implants. There are two main kinds of dentures: complete and partial.

Full dentures, also called complete dentures, are used when a person is entirely toothless, while partial ones are when some natural teeth remain in one’s mouth. Complete dentures can be divided into two groups: “conventional” and “immediate.” The conventional ones take place after the removal of the teeth and prior healing of gum tissue; hence, immediate ones are done before extraction.

The procedure for getting dentures at Neosmile Dental Hospital typically involves several steps to ensure that the dentures fit well and function properly.

The process

01

Primary Consultation

The dentist will evaluate the oral health condition of a patient, discussing desires, needs for type, possible materials, as well as preliminary treatments like extractions or implantations.

02

Impressions

Detailed impressions taken from mouth enable a perfect replica model to be made of gums, teeth (if any), and other oral structures. This model is used for designing a tailor-made false tooth.

03

Bite registeration

At this point, it has been established how both jaws relate and that biting would be achieved comfortably using these prosthetics, so patients may bite onto wax or any soft material, which would assist laboratory technicians in reproducing an accurate copy.

04

Denture Try-in

Before casting the final version based on the moulds above, a pre-final model usually made from wax is created at this stage, outlining shapes from bite registration records that fit into the patient’s mouth to examine if everything including fit, shade, shape, alignment etc., among other things was considered.

05

Denture Fabrication

Once both patient and dentist have approved the wax-up, a definitive denture is fabricated using durable materials such as acrylic for the base and either porcelain or acrylic teeth.

06

Fittings & Adjustments

The complete denture should fit into place in the oral cavity of the patient, while minor adjustments will often need to be done in order to deal with any pressure spots, enhancing comfort as well as assuring proper functioning during eating or speaking.

07

Follow-up visits

After fitting, further visits become very important. These enable monitoring of adaptation to dentures, making needed corrections, and addressing sore spots/fitting issues, among other things.

08

Adjustments & Relines

The shape of the gums or bone can change over time, thereby compromising retention of properly fitting prosthesis; hence, relines or adjustments are essential for maintaining good fit as well as comfort during wearing thereof.

Required enrollment documents

Getting new dentures, especially for the first time, will require an adjustment period. Here are some essential tips to keep in mind during this period:
