BENEFITS OF CROWNING :

BENEFITS OF BRIDGING :

Initial Consultation

The first step involves a thorough examination of the tooth that needs the crown. The dentist may take X-rays to check the roots of the tooth and surrounding bone.

Tooth Preparation

Before the crown can be made, the tooth needs to be reshaped to ensure a proper fit, such as by cutting off part of its outer surface layer. A filling material may be used if there is severe damage or decay in order to support the crown.

Impression Making

As soon as the tooth has been shaped, an impression is taken from it (and adjacent teeth). This can be done using traditional molding materials or through digital scanning devices. The mold is then sent to a dental laboratory where it will be used in making a crown.

Temporary Crown

A temporary crown might then be placed over the prepared tooth while awaiting the fabrication of a permanent one so as to prevent it from being exposed uncontrollably. This provisional crown is often made from acrylic-based materials.

Permanent Crown

This process occurs within two to three weeks, after which you will need to go back to your dentist: the temporary crown is taken off, and the permanent crown is altered as necessary for its fit and colour match; then the tooth is ready for cementing of the crown.

At Neosmile Dental Hospital, getting a crown or bridge follows an extensive process whereby affected teeth have to be properly evaluated and prepared, including reshaping them whenever necessary. Models for these custom-made crowns/bridges will be developed based on impressions taken earlier from these oral structures. During this period, when the final crown/bridge is being fabricated in laboratory settings, some people might get temporary fixtures put in place so that their dentition stays protected. When it is ready, it is inserted precisely into its position and any minor adjustments required are made before cementing it permanently, thereby ensuring comfort and durability during restoration procedures.

Crown

Refer to customized tooth prosthetics that are used to cover a diseased or treated tooth. They are commonly recommended after root canal treatment for supporting a tooth with a large filling or to cap a dental implant. Crowns are made from materials such as porcelain, ceramic, metal or combinations thereof to match your natural teeth in colour, shape

Bridge

Are meant to fill the gap caused by one or more lost teeth. The bridge is held in place by crowns attached on either side of it that is fitted over the healthy teeth next to the space created by missing teeth or implants located in those positions. These abutments provide support to the bridge that consists of one or several artificial teeth known as pontics, just like crowns.
